Clive Mann | executive coach

Clive specialises in coaching senior leaders and their teams. His clients come from a range of professional services firms, financial organisations, FTSE 350 companies and entrepreneurial companies. Client organisations include Aberdeen Asset Management, ASOS, BBC, CBRE, GSK,, Hogan Lovells, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Rathbones, TNT and UBS.

He has a track record, spanning more than eighteen years, of coaching senior leaders, including CEOs, entrepreneurs, company founders, senior executives who are running substantial business units, highly valued senior individuals who are facing a variety of leadership and career challenges and younger exceptionally talented individuals who are experiencing rapid career progression.

In his coaching work Clive brings together in-depth professional and commercial experience with strategic insight and a sophisticated understanding of organisational dynamics and the personal challenges facing senior leaders. His clients gain the opportunity to look more deeply at their leadership challenges and explore their professional dilemmas. Through his direct and honest coaching, they become better able to leverage their strengths and address their development areas. As a result they typically identify possibilities, which they have not noticed before, to implement new leadership approaches, improve their working relationships and become clearer about their future career direction.

While developing his own coaching practice, he worked as an executive coach with London Business School for a number of years, including leading cross-cultural teams of coaches across three continents (Europe, USA and the Far East) on a long-running senior leadership programme for a global investment bank. He also worked for a number of years as a visiting faculty member at the INSEAD Global Leadership Centre in Paris where he coached an internationally diverse range of senior executives.

Clive is an award-winning writer, researcher and international speaker in the area of leadership development and executive coaching, having written six editions of the industry-leading Ridler Report (a research programme which reports on the changing uses of coaching) and numerous articles.

Before becoming an executive coach he spent twenty years in professional services firms and financial organisations, in senior corporate finance and strategic planning roles, in organisations such as Deloitte Haskins & Sells and Abbey National. In the latter he worked closely with the Group CEO and main board on the bank’s strategy, especially in the areas of mergers and acquisitions.

Clive founded the London based executive coaching practice Ridler & Co in 2001, following his passion for enabling high achieving individuals to develop their leadership and professional lives in ways which are in tune with their motivations and which make the most of their talents.

He combines professional experience and expertise in the fields of both business and psychology. He is a London Business School MBA, Chartered Accountant and UKCP registered psychotherapist with an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy. He is an APECS Accredited Executive Coach with advanced qualifications in the use of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator and a range of other psychometrics and 360 instruments. He has recently embarked on doctoral research at the Tavistock.

Clive is married, has one son and lives in London. In his spare time he enjoys playing squash and sailing on the south coast of England.
